  1. a roll is the main thing you are filming like an interview and b roll is things the person is saying as a visual aid to what the person is talking about.

  2. What are the two different types of footage contained in this clip? What parts make up the b-roll and what parts make up the interview? What happens when these two parts are brought together? What ideas do you get for your own Documentary project?
The actual voice and the different footage of the people saying the poems. The parts that make up the b-roll are the different cuts including the quotes. The parts that make up the interview are the narrator and the poets actual voice in the back ground. The two parts brought together make a documentary. I wanna try to have a main voice and then have cut scenes.

  3. The two different kinds of footage in the video were A-Roll and B-Roll.The A-Roll parts of the video were the interview like parts and the B-Roll parts of the video was the clips showing the people on stage.

  4. What are the two different types of footage contained in this clip?: a roll and b roll.
What parts make up the b-roll and what parts make up the interview?: b roll are the parts that show what the interviewer is talking about.
What happens when these two parts are brought together?: makes the video more enjoyable to watch
What ideas do you get for your own Documentary project?: use b roll

  5. Audio aside, the interview shots are the ones featuring people talking, where the B-roll are the shots of people waking in halls, the auditorium, etc. When these are combined, you hear the words being spoken and you see exactly what you want to/should see. I think we should have the interview for the A-roll and shots of them doing something that especially relates to them, like if it’s a teacher, well, teaching.

  6. A-roll and b-roll. B-roll is when they are showing parts of the video, like a clip of a person telling their story, or a clip of the girl with her brother. A -roll is when they are interviewing one of the people. When both parts are put together you get a perspective from both sides. For our documentary I think it would be cool to do like what they did in the video and switch back and forth between A and B- roll frequently, keeping it’s viewers instead of boring them with like 20 minutes of interviews ect.

  7. The two types of footage in this video are the A-roll footage and the B-roll footage. The A-roll footage is the interviews with the people in the video and the B-roll is the footage of the poetry being said, people hugging and huddling together, people going about their daily lives etc. When these two parts are brought together it makes it so much more interesting than just watching an interview for an hour or two, or watching unrelated footage that does not tell a story or give any information. Both the A-roll and the B-roll work together to make the subject of the documentary interesting and tell a story or give information to the audience. An idea I have for the documentary is about the life of a student or life of a teacher, both inside and outside of school.

  8. There is a-roll and b-roll in the trailer. The b-roll is made up of the clips of the kids watching the louder than a bomb and the interview is made up of the were they are interviewing and talking with the poets. When these are brought together you get a great video that is complete. I get the idea to put my interview in somewhere important to the subject and video.

  9. There is direct video of when the people are in the interview and talking and then there is the b roll were it shows what they are talking about in action. The b roll shows them being up on stage or writing poetry in their note book. When these two types of shots are brought together it adds another aspect to the video which makes it more complete and makes you want to continue watching. If it was only an interview and no footage of what the interview is about then it would be a boring video. Have b roll playing while the interviewers voice is talking in the background so you can actually see what the person is talking about.

  10. What are the two different types of footage contained in this clip? They had a few shots of close up to the face and talking type shots as an interview. They also had very scenic type of shots like the scene of the bus pulling up and opening the doors.
What parts make up the b-roll and what parts make up the interview? B-Roll parts where the more scenic parts of the bus, the close up of the mic etc. The interview type scenes were the close up shots of the person’s face while they talked.
What happens when these two parts are brought together? When they add these two parts together they create a documentary type film.
What ideas do you get for your own Documentary project? Add many scenic shots while some are talking and add transitions of important parts of the documentary.

  11. the a-roll was when the 4 people were talking to themselves
the b-roll was when they were showing different scenes during their talk
i think ill ask the people when i do it why are they doing this

  12. There’s a-roll and b-roll. The b-roll is the people cheering and being excited and the interview is of the people them selves doing there homework or talking together. When the two are put together you get a video of the person and them talking or them rhyming in front of a audience. The ideas that i get are same but have some one talking and a video of them doing something.

  13. It shows that every one has problems in life but this show that their is a way out for the great and good and the editing was well done to how do they find amazing people like this telling their life for us seeing that people out their care even if you meet someone their always someone that will care about your thought.

    A roll and B roll
What parts make up the b-roll and what parts make up the interview?
The shots of the people in their seats at the poem thing and the parts where the guy is talking to the guy is the . interview part
What happens when these two parts are brought together?
they make the video better to watch and not just people talking
What ideas do you get for your own Documentary project?
To have more b roll shots than we do right now

  15. What are the two different types of footage contained in this clip?
There’s some interview type footage, some of the actual performances, and some background footage.
What parts make up the b-roll and what parts make up the interview?
The performances make up a lot of the b-roll and the a-roll makes up the interviews.
What happens when these two parts are brought together?
When these two are brought together, it really forms the video as a whole, without one part it would be a sloppy documentary with holes, the trailer would be boring and I wouldn’t want to watch the actual documentary.
What ideas do you get for your own Documentary project?
I have a few ideas for interview spots and some ideas for the audio placement.

  16. two different footage the video contains is the person being interview, and the person doing what hes talking about. An idea is similar to the video because were trying to show some clips of the person being interview while people doing what hes talking about.

  17. The two different types of footage contained in this clip are a roll n b. The parts that make up the b-roll and make up the interview is when there sitting and doing there interview and when there there doing the poems thingy. What happens when these two parts are brought together is that it makes it more interesting instead of them just talking. ideas do you get for your own Documentary project would be do do b rolls

  18. The a roll is where they have the shoot of the person they are interviewing, the b roll is when they are showing the footage like on the stage and in the crowd.

  19. The two different video footage’s contained the interviews of everyone’s story, and the reaction from other people or what the story telling is doing.

  20. A roll is when there was actual interaction between the camera and subject talking. B roll is when there is footage of something else, or a different moment that is somewhere in the future of the film or either in the past. B roll is when it switched from main subject to another situation.

  21. The A-Roll is the main footage of the person talking/ doing something and the B-Roll is the background footage which is cut to while the main person is talking/ doing something. The B-Roll should also be relevant to whatever is the focus in the A-Roll.

  22. The B roll is definitely after they interview the people they show footage of them reading their poems aloud and or showing where they come from. They had very little A roll footage but they showed like one of the kids sitting down with his parents and talking about his poems then the next scene is him doing it (B roll). A roll is the static interview no actual actions and the B roll is the action they’re talking about, in action.

  23. the two different types of video footage in this video are the a roll being the kids and the crowd the b roll being the cars and the city and the streets

  24. There are two different types of footage in the video. The interview scenes were A roll parts, while the cutaways to streets, places around the city and other “generic” types of film are B roll.

  25. The two types of footage in this video clip is the interview and the b-roll. For this video clip the interview part was when all the kids and adults were talking to the camera about the subject of the movie. The b-roll section was of scenes from the movie that did not connect to the person talking in that exact moment, also the quotes that showed up was part of the b-roll.

  26. What are the two different types of footage contained in this clip? A person being interviewed and a video of them showing what he was talking about. What parts make up the b-roll and what parts make up the interview? The A-Roll is when they guy is getting interviewed, the B-Roll is when they are showing him talking to the crowd. What happens when these two parts are brought together? It makes you see what its like being where he was talking and you get what hes saying because you can see it and hear it. What ideas do you get for your own Documentary project? Have different camera angles for the video of what we are talking about and have different shorts while the person is talking.

  27. Q: What are the two different types of footage contained in this clip?

A: The two types of footage in this clip are interviews and the competition. A-roll is the competition, B-Roll is the quotes and the awards and the interviews.

Q: What parts make up the b-roll and what parts make up the interview?

A: The footage of the competition make up the B-Roll, the shot of the family and the people make up the interviews.

Q: What happens when these two parts are brought together?

A: What happens when these are brought together is the video we saw.

Q: What ideas do you get for your own Documentary project?

A: The ideas I get from this is a day in the life sort of thing.

  28. The two different footage being show is the interview and what that person is talking about in the interview while also cutting back to the interview. the b roll shows what the a roll is talking about and the interview is made up of people talking about their past experiences and when they’re brought together they make a video or in this case a movie that can manage to keep the viewers attention and interest. Ideas I get for my documentary are possibly interviewing one group member, and what they talk about or as close to it as we can get but also cutting back to the member to show their emotion and how they feel about what they’re talking about

  29. Interviews with the speakers is one type and speakers at the show is another. The interview is the b roll, this is used so the audience has a deeper understanding of the picture and the cast.THIS ALSO MAKES THINGS more enjoyable to watch.

  30. The two different types of footage i saw were the B-roll and the interview in this video. The connection I saw between the two were that it made people seem like there is hope, not only the music but the witness and what we saw that made us feel like it’s a touching clip. It was very inspiring and it inspires me physically and mentally, like in a way to film and to reach out. This video taught me how to use b-roll in a different way toher thana views and nature.

  31. the A roll is the main footage of the video that people are watching . the B roll is the background of the main footage so that people won’t be bored while watching the video.

  32. A Roll and A B-Roll
A Roll is interviewing someone on what u ask them in return, they answer your questions with a answer of they think of it or of some thing.
A B-Roll is when interviewing someone with questions and other things that the question may holed, cut in clips of something or someone and of the subject, like if you were talking about a video game to someone you where interviewing, add some game play of the game in the front but still leave audio of the person talking about the video game.

  33. The two different types of footage contained in that clip are A-Roll and B-Roll. The A-Roll was the interview footage. The footage that has the kids looking at the camera answering questions is the A-Roll. The B-Roll would be the reviews that the film got during the first portion of the clip, the shots that were taken out of a car window, and the various clips of the actual poetry event that the kids were attending. When the two parts are brought together, it shows us the kids’ feelings about the poetry slam before and during the event. This gives me the idea that my group should film our documentary in the format of a trailer, proposing a film with a silly title, possibly.

  34. The two types of footage are the A-Roll and the B-Roll. The parts of people reacting and screaming are the B-Roll and the interviews are the A-Roll. When the parts are brought together, they make up a sort of contrasting trailer. The interview is all calm and soft while we can see the reactions that show up later.
